NEW YORK (MarketWatch)– American Airlines said it expects to lay off about 1,300 aircraft mechanics and 200 management and support staff positions as it begins retiring its A300 fleet later this year. In a Thursday letter to employees, the Fort Worth, Texas-based airline said it is taking steps to reduce the number of furloughs by offering voluntary packages that would remove them from the payroll. American had announced previously that it would lay off 900 flight attendants and 200 pilots.
Its getting bad in the industry, and its not even our fault! Drill now, Pelosi!
