Chyckenfyst, the Band with No Name, is No More
Well, I might have jumped the gun on one of the posts that we had a new name. Chyckenfyst, a name christened by my Dad, will no longer be the name of the Band. I actually liked the name, I had the idea of putting a German Umlatte (sp?)over the “Es” in the name, but Chyckenfyst is the Band’s name no longer. That name was just drawing too much fire-everytime I would make announcement that “Chyckenfyst will playing at the Lost Hollow Amphitheatre,” or, “ChyckenFyst will attempting to lay tracks this weekend”, it was always met with snickers and ridicule. Posts on Facebook and Myspace, were less than enthusiastic about the name. Dodging sheep and insults, I decided it was time for a change. Apparently, the guys were just being tolerant of the name, so when the change was proposed, it was seized upon immediatley, and we went to work. The music we have written is just too good in our opinion, to be tagged with something that will never be taken seriously.
There as also been addition the roster-Jim B. (who was volunteered in absentia for a slot), who was tapped for his knowledge of the software and mixing stuff. He also plays a mean guitar, as does Andy L, the other member. In our late 30s and early 40s, the music definitley has an eclectic feel, so if you are looking for Hip-Hop,R&B, techno, or contemporary stuff, you will have to keep looking, rooted in the 70’s and 80’s, and being old, we are kind of stuck in that mode. Notice, however, I made no mention of screaming death metal. Well, it wouldnt be fair not to allow the guys their opportunity to play or create, and Jim B. is a creture of that era. So look for some songs to have a high gain and some distortion.
We have 2 and 1/2 solid originals, (the 1/2 still needs some collaboration)and Im going to offer three covers-“He’s Gone”, “Rubin and Cherise, and “Blue Telescope”, by John Hyatt. Plus, the other guys have some ideas as well. I think if we can get everybody in one place for a couple of hours a week, we could be recording and producing in short order. So stay tuned for a Band name announcement, and pics of the Lost Hollow Amphitheatre and the guys..
