Our company’s aircraft approach the STL airport at about 170-140 kts. Depending on which runways are in use, once inside either the Missouri or Mississippi rivers the aircraft is moving at about 140kts. Hit a bird in a car at 60mph and see what happens. Hit a bird moving at 140kts in the windscreen, and you are calling maintenance and probably the insurance company, in addition to Crash Fire Rescue…
