Hamas "shocked" at Arab endorsement of Annapolis

Posted in Uncategorized by Patrick Truax on November 25, 2007

GAZA (Reuters) – Hamas on Saturday condemned a decision by Arab powers to endorse next week’s U.S.-hosted Israeli-Palestinian peace conference, saying the talks would favor the Jewish state’s policies rather than Palestinian demands.

Islamist Hamas, which refuses to recognize Israel and broke with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas after seizing control of the Gaza Strip in a June civil war, is excluded from the November 27 conference in Annapolis, Maryland.

Arab League ministers agreed on Friday to attend the conference in the hope of promoting the creation of a Palestinian state and pushing for Israel to return the occupied Golan Heights to Syria as part of a regional peace process.

The Iberian Peninsula and Saint Sophia’s in Turkey are claimed by Arabs because they were either once their possesions or obtained through war. Why then does Israel have to return the Golan as part of the deal? They took Golan in 67 through the spoils of war. Maybe if the Arabs agree to return Al-Aqsa to the Jews, and Saint Sophia’s to the Christians and we will think about it.

The Golan Heights can see right into Damascus on a clear day, it is one of the most strategic defenses Israel has. If Israel is forced to give up the Heights to placate rape victim punishers, then all is lost for Israel. And the US, if thats what the House of Saud demands, will acquiese-the last step in the unfolding of Armageddon..
