US welcomes Saudi summit pledge

Posted in Uncategorized by Patrick Truax on November 24, 2007

US officials have welcomed the decision by Saudi Arabia to attend next week’s Middle East peace conference at Annapolis in the US.
“This is a signal that they believe this will be a serious and substantive meeting,” the US state department said.

Speaking at an Arab League meeting in Cairo, the Saudi foreign minister said he would go but ruled out a “theatrical show” with Israeli officials.

How can a country who sentences a rape victim to 200 lashes, be taken seriously on the Diplomatic Stage? The Saudi’s presence here is embarrassing and is a slap in the face to all of those (and there are many) who oppose Saudi Islamic law.

Islamic Law is not in sync with modern society. How can we support a regime that punishes a rape victim??

    Islamic Law is medieval.

It is especially galling to see Saudi “diplomats” at a place of honor like the U.S. Naval Academy. It was reported on another forum that the Saudi “diplomats” will refuse to shake hands with the Israeli delegation. The Israeli diplomats should count themselves fortunate. It’s also very galling to think that without western technology drawing all that oil out of the earth is the only thing that permits the house of saud to live like kings. Oh, wait, they ARE kings. I don’t suppose we’ll ever know how much money and arms the house of saud has sent into Palestine.

Probably a good thing the Israelis wont get their hands shook by the saudis. Anyone who punishes a rape victim probably doesnt know what hand to wipe their ass with..
