U.S. Capitol: ‘God’ a No-Go on Flag Certificates

Posted in Uncategorized by Patrick Truax on October 11, 2007

WASHINGTON — When 17-year-old Andrew Larochelle of Dayton, Ohio, crafted a plan to send his grandfather the gift of a flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol, he never thought his sentiments about “God, country and family” would be questioned.

The Eagle Scout was surprised, however, when the personal inscription he requested attached to a flag he purchased from the U.S. Capitol was censored. The teen said he wrote, “In honor of my grandfather Marcel Larochelle, and his dedication and love of God, country and family.”

The flag flew on Sept. 11, Marcel Larochelle’s birthday. But when Andrew finally received the flag in the mail on Sept. 30, “God” was taken out of his note.”

*Sigh* Read the rest of the story at the link. Dont be surprised when you see Nancy Pelosi quoted in this fishwrap..

Speculation Swirls Around Al Gore as Possible Peace Prize Winner

Posted in Uncategorized by Patrick Truax on October 11, 2007

Just a day before the Nobel Peace Prize winner is to be announced, a cancellation of a fundraising event and a meeting on the climate crisis in Asia — both of which Al Gore was to attend — are fueling speculation that the former vice president may be preparing to make an even bigger splash — perhaps as the Peace Prize recipient.

Oh, man, I hope he announces candidacy with the Green Party! And winning a Peace prize is hardly a splash-as oft stated here on Artorius, AIDS infected, terrorist, pedophile and murderer of Americans, Yassir Arafat received one..

New ‘Seed’ Therapy Helps Pinpoint Breast Tumors With More Accuracy

Posted in Uncategorized by Patrick Truax on October 11, 2007

Physicians at UT Southwestern Medical Center are the first in Texas to use a new technique in which a small radioactive pellet, or “seed”, is implanted into a mass or suspicious lesion in the breast to pinpoint its exact location for surgical removal.

During the procedure, a radiologist uses a needle to insert a small radioactive seed, about the size of a grain of rice, into the mass. Once lodged, surgeons use a wand that detects radioactivity to locate the mass and find the best pathway for removal.

“The new technique is less invasive for the patient and allows us to be more precise when removing possible breast-cancer tumors,” said Dr. Roshni Rao, a surgical oncologist who specializes in breast cancer.

Lets not forget, it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Please click on the Breast Cancer link on the left hand side of the page. This new tecnique looks pretty interesting. Read more at Science Daily at the above link..

Millions more face relocation from Three Gorges Reservoir Area

Posted in Uncategorized by Patrick Truax on October 11, 2007

At least four million people from the Three Gorges Reservoir area are to be relocated to cities in the next 10 to 15 years, according to Vice Mayor Yu Yuanmu of Chongqing Municipality.

Under the 2007-2020 rural and urban development plan of Chongqing, which was approved by the State Council on Sep. 20, there settlements were necessary to protect the ecology of the reservoir area, said Yu.

Damn. They have already moved millions of people already. Something tells me there is going to a disaster involving Three Gorges in the future..

World’s oldest wall painting unearthed in Syria

Posted in Uncategorized by Patrick Truax on October 11, 2007

By Khaled Yacoub Oweis

DAMASCUS (Reuters) – French archaeologists have discovered an 11,000-year-old wall painting underground in northern Syria which they believe is the oldest in the world.

The 2 square-meter painting, in red, black and white, was found at the Neolithic settlement of Djade al-Mughara on the Euphrates, northeast of the city of Aleppo, team leader Eric Coqueugniot told Reuters.

“It looks like a modernist painting. Some of those who saw it have likened it to work by (Paul) Klee. Through carbon dating we established it is from around 9,000 B.C.,” Coqueugniot said.

Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko says his country needs to build a nuclear power station.
The creation of a domestic nuclear energy source was essential to guarantee “national security”, Interfax news quoted Mr Lukashenko as saying.

This guys is nuttier than a fruitcake. Now HE wants nukes? It will be interesting to see how the Kremlin reacts.

China mines Tibet’s rich resources

Posted in Uncategorized by Patrick Truax on October 11, 2007

The railway link to Tibet now appears to have been part of a broader plan to exploit vast deposits of metals in the disputed region, explains Fortune’s Abrahm Lustgarten.

Might as well post this one of the heels of another China thread. The Communists love to claim historical right to Tibet, but in the end, it was all about the money..

Tibetan protesters infiltrate Chinese embassy in New Delhi

Posted in Uncategorized by Patrick Truax on October 11, 2007

NEW DELHI, India (AP) — Some 30 Tibetan exiles protesting Chinese religious policies stormed the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi on Wednesday, with several breaching the front gate and chaining themselves to the flag pole inside, police and witnesses said.
Others repeatedly sprayed “Free Tibet” in red paint on the embassy walls and the main gate before many of the demonstrators were forcibly taken away by Indian police, according to an Associated Press photographer at the scene.

Go Tibet! The “Province Of Tibet”, or whatever the Chi-coms call it today, belongs to Tibet. Restore the Lama and their sovreignty.

I read a great story somewhere on line about this railroad. It was a pretty big undertaking. But only the Communists will benefit from it-they will share none with the people they stole it from.

New scanner may replace metal detectors

WASHINGTON (AP) — The federal government will begin testing a body-scanning machine that could eventually be used instead of the metal detectors passengers walk through at airports.

Tests were scheduled to begin Thursday at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport with passengers pulled out of the security line for secondary screening. Passengers may request the full-body scan – which blurs faces so the person being screened cannot be recognized – instead of the traditional pat-down used across the country. The new machine uses radio waves to detect foreign objects.

I saw these on the Discovery Channel. I’ll take the pat-down.
