Dont Even Think About It

Senator Olympia Snowe, (R) ME, was the big winner today in the Congressional Taxpayer sweepstakes. Going all in on her committee vote, the Senator opted for Door Number 3, and won the trifecta. The actual reward and prize money was kept from the taxpayers, of course. “When history calls, history calls,” was her justification for casting her lot against her own and going solo from Party. Honest folks across the continent lamented the fact that a REPUBLICAN Senator just cast the deciding vote to allow Government Run Health Care to leave the committee. Funny, we thought she should be doing it for those who voted for her and whose Party she receives funding from. “Now they will always point to her and claim it was bi-partisan,” said our youngest intern. “This would have never happened in the Clinton War Room or in the Democrat Party, Democrat Senators NEVER go off the Reservation on a vote so crucial unless it is by design,” she continued. She won’t be an intern long.

Republican Government Run Health Care opponents have just had health care policy dictated to them by one their own from Maine. What the heck is the Republican leadership doing? 90% of registered Republicans are against Government Run Health Care, how, then, could the Leadership have allowed the swing vote to against the wishes of the Party or it’s constituents. What is the Leadership doing with the money? They will never get a dime or an endorsement from this column again. The only possible scenario is voting against on a floor vote, claiming it has a public option, something she has already said she wouldn’t support. House leadership says they wont accept a Bill without it, so while it is not over yet; they are going to ram it through anyway. We have just seen it leave a Senate committee, on a Republican vote. Are we the only ones to see the irony in this? The only ones to see how those in power are laughing at us? 50% of the people just got screwed with their own money, and will lose their current insurance, while Olympia Snowe remains a Senator with a car, driver and her OWN health plan, and 50% of the people think that’s just fine and dandy.

So how much is a committee vote worth these days? 30 pieces of silver doesn’t buy what it used to..

Ya, gee, it’s such a shame the bill can go in front of congress to be actually debated, kinda like bills are supposed to be. Shame on her for acting like an American and leveling the playing field. Say, do you actually think this stuff up yourself, or do you pantomime the usual right wing yahoos? Ever had a thought not put there by rush/glenn/ann/yadda yadda? Thought not.

Like I told you earlier son, stoned, stupid and liberal is no way to go through life. Man up, get out on your own, and see what life is really like, and then come back and tell me that being stoned, stupid, and liberal is the way to go.

But Ill explain it to you, when she did this it created a situation where the bill could have been voted on with only a simple majority of 51. That wouldn’t have been fair and sub par bill would have been rushed through.

So, in short, put down the bong, move out of moms, get a life and we’ll talk.

I repeat, in case you couldn’t understand me: Debating bills is part of what congress does. I know, I know, it’s difficult for you to understand, being as how you live in that shoe box. Ventilation must be a bitch, huh? Have to have oxygen piped in? Beer? Got it up on blocks?

BTW, I took care of mom until she passed away, I’m retired and the last joint I smoked was way back in the sixties. And I did inhale. And I used to jump out of airplanes, drive 60′ diesels loaded with bombs in Nam, surf back when it took a man to carry a board, and shot expert every time I qualified. Not bad for a guy that lives in his mom’s basement.

So you, like, live in a shoe box and listen to nothing but right wing radio?

I am a family man, unemployed at the moment, have a mind of my own, and not a little humor. You started it with your comment to me. Lets stop insulting eachother and debate for real. Thanks for the Viet Nam service, by the way, my Dad was there, too.

I want all things debated, 5. But using parliamentary procedures to ramrod a bill when most of us don’t see the immediate pressing need to pass a bill that isn’t enacted until 2013. Her vote pushed it forward to the point where a simple majority could have passed it. A simple majority in the Senate does NOT translate to a National majority. Anyway, it looks like it is not going anywhere until after the first of the year..
